Just what I needed...an extra dose of stupid!!

Wow some people should not be let out of the house on their own. I was at Wal-mart tonight and got in line behind this guy…I should have known this was a bad idea by taking one look at this guy. He was dressed like Sherlock Holmes and Steve Urkel [he had on a fedora and a khaki trench coat along with black jeans pulled up WAY too high with white sneakers] therefore going forward we shall call him “Sherkel”. Now that you have a mental image let us move on. Sherkel put everything in his cart up on the counter, the cashier rang them up and all was normal…UNTIL…she gave him his total…he didn’t have enough money to pay for it all and at first I felt really bad for the guy, but that feeling didn’t last very long. Why? Because he started pulling items out of bags one at a time and having the cashier remove it from his total only to turn around and put it back on. What really pissed me off is that when I actually noticed what was in his bags…most of the things were not even necessary. Let me explain…he had dog food (necessary), food/water bowl (necessary), flea medicine (necessary)….THEN….he had a collar, trinkets for the collar (just for looks..as he put it), dog diapers, dog pads and a sweater. Don’t get me wrong…if you’re not pinching pennies then by all means buy that dog hoodie and cute little collar, but if you’re shopping on a budget then get your priorities straight. At this point the only person I felt bad for was the cashier that had to deal with his craziness. Of course at this point the line was only getting longer and Sherkel didn’t even act like he cared. At this point I’m pretty sure a normal person would have taken everything off but the food, the bowl and the medicine and just checked out and left…I mean if money is tight do you really need doggy diapers and pads??? Just let your dog out the front door to do their business for crying out loud. After 15 minutes I thought I was going to lose it so I left and went to another lane. When I was in my car and leaving I noticed he was still wandering around the parking lot…looking for his car??? Who knows, but I really think someone should have probably went to the store with him maybe with a CALCULATOR!!!!

FYI: by no means am I making fun of this guy for getting to the register and not having enough money…I’m making a point to show some people need to be chaperoned when not in their own house. Also I wanted to say that when on a budget shop by prioritizing things…that’s all!

This is the NEW place to be

I love to read...I've even been known to read two (sometimes three) books at one time. Since I do read so much I am always asking friends for advice on what to read next or going online to see if I can find something that catches my attention. With that said...I am happy to announce that last week I stumbled on to this website via google, its call Goodreads and it is AWESOME! Thanks to this great new website I have a list of books that should last me at least a few months (maybe).

I will say I was a bit disappointed that they did not have a true crime section (since that is the majority of what I usually read) and therefore I will not be able to get recommendations on that topic. [CORRECTION: They actually DO have a true crime section you just have to choose explore-->genres-->type in "True Crime"]. So far my favorite section is "classics"...it has everything you would imagine this section to have and so much more. If you love to read and are always looking for a new title then you will want to check this site out.

Also they have a challenge you can sign up for...basically you enter how many books you think you will read during the year 2013 and enter it and then check back in and click on "read" when you've finished one and it will let you know where you stand in regards to your projected number. Finally it lets you rate books you've already read via a star vote and then if you choose you can actually write a review. I have to say this website is going to be my new best friend.

**I added a link to the site on the side of this blog....ENJOY!!!**

The lights, the lights that light the lights!!!!

I realize that this blog is a little late, but I still decided to post it. During the first week of December my friends and I decided to go to The Speedway in Lights @ Bristol Motor Speedway. I have not been in several (SEVERAL) years and I was super excited to go because this is my FAVORITE time of year and I love..love..love Christmas lights. So after driving for what seemed like 5 miles we finally get in line…a loooonnnnngggg line I might add. We finally get to the part where the lights start and I have to admit at that point my excitement faded…rather rapidly I might add. There were A LOT of lights but there wasn’t much of a theme and they were just randomly placed. Not to mention that several of the displays had local companies logos on it (which I understand, but not very Christmasy). I just have to say that for $15 per car, an hour wait and 1-1.5 hrs to go through the whole thing driving 2 mph…it wasn’t worth it!! I know that they proceeds go to a great cause, but I have to say I will probably never go back!!
I have to admit that this was the best display that I saw during the whole ride!!
